Position: Music Therapist
Location: Preceptor North
Wage: $28-$32
Status: Part Time
- JOB SUMMARY
The Music Therapist provides music therapy that is designed to meet the patient’s psychological and/or physical needs.
- DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs patient assessments to evaluate appropriateness for a music therapy program and contributes to the plan of treatment.
- Reports changes in the patient’s conditions and needs to the Registered Nurse Case Manager or Director of Social Services.
- Observes for safety hazards in the patient’s and organization’s environments and takes appropriate steps to reduce or eliminate them.
- Designs and implements a variety of music therapy and plans to meet the individual needs of each patient.
- Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning sessions.
- Provides therapeutic interventions.
- Provides education to the staff and community on the music therapy program.
- Maintains continuing education through academic studies, seminars, and workshops.
- Attends and participates in in services, staff meetings, and case conferences as required.
- Completes all documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
- Complies with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and standards of practice.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Graduate of an accredited music therapy program.
- Current certification from an accredited music therapy program.
- The ability to drive and/or have access to transportation for agency related travel (e.g. community partners, patients, etc.) is an essential function of the job. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to an automobile.
- One year experience working in a health-related setting preferred.
