The Associate Director, Quality Engineering provides site-level quality leadership for the Advanced Structures site, ensuring product and process quality meets internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role leads quality performance strategies, drives continuous improvement initiatives, develops quality teams, and partners with cross-functional organizations to resolve complex technical issues. The role also oversees quality compliance, special process performance, calibration and metrology, configuration management, and customer acceptance activities.
What You Will Do
Lead site quality performance for internal and external customers by establishing and executing strategies to achieve quality targets and goals.
Direct the collection and analysis of quality data from multiple sources to develop long-term quality strategies and improvement programs.
Establish and monitor quality performance metrics, including Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Supplier Rejection Rate (SRR), defect reduction, and quality escapes.
Lead continuous improvement of inspection processes, systems, and methods to improve quality performance.
Ensure site compliance with quality procedures, standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Oversee special process performance, including Nadcap conformance, as well as tool and gauge calibration and metrology activities.
Ensure product configuration management, Certificate of Conformance (CoC) issuance, and final customer buyoff activities are completed in accordance with applicable requirements.
Lead and develop direct and indirect quality team members, supporting career development, employee growth, and succession planning.
Manage quality organization staffing and resources within established budgets and site and program objectives.
Partner with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve complex technical problems using structured problem-solving methods such as RCCA and 8D.
Support site Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) goals, initiatives, and product safety activities.
Represent the Advances Structures site in cross-site and centrally driven quality initiatives.
Communicate and report site quality performance, strategies, and improvement initiatives to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience
Quality leadership experience with direct and indirect team responsibility and data-driven quality improvement initiatives.
Quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment, including shop assembly practices and day-to-day production operations.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience applying APQP and PPAP tools at the manufacturing site level across multiple products or programs.
Experience applying Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies, including Six Sigma certification or Shainin RedX problem-solving training.
Experience with FAA/EASA Part 21 regulatory requirements and AS9100 quality standards.
Aerospace manufacturing experience.
