Buyer I, Tactical

Overview

Work in conjunction with New Product Sourcing, Commodity Management, Engineering, SQE, Manufacturing, Logistics and Finance to manage day-to-day current supplier related activities. Expediting and mitigation of part shortages has the highest priority in terms of the job function as well as avoiding unnecessary excess/obsolete inventory with support from Purchasing Supervisor. Monitors supplier performance on lead time and deliveries and initiates improvements as required. He/she is responsible for the health of exceptions, red lights and overdue supply elements as well as and achieving optimal inventory levels, which is measured daily and monthly. Effectively Execute project activities or tasks to better support department goals or driving department continuous improvement with guideline from Purchasing Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Tactical Purchasing

  • Manage purchase orders and ensure alignment with latest demand requirements.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and drive corrective actions when supply risks are identified.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize SAP settings to ensure a suitable stock level for assigned parts.
  • Support shortage mitigation and excess inventory reduction activities.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure material availability.
  • Support supplier collaboration programs such as buffer stock, VMI, lead-time reduction, and shipment optimization if applicable.

  Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Support simplification of repetitive purchasing activities.
  • Analyze inventory trends, shortages, supplier performance.
  • Create and maintain reports using Excel, Power BI, or other tools.

Qualifications

Preferred Education:

Bachelor Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related fields.

 

Skill Requirements

Required:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, lookup functions, and data analysis.
• Ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
• Good communication skills.
• SAP experience or willingness to learn SAP.
• Good English communication skills.

Preferred:

• Experience with excel, Power BI or similar reporting tools.
• Knowledge of SQL, Power Query, or AI productivity tools.
• Experience in supply chain, planning, inventory management, or purchasing analytics.
• Strong AI tool experience, Excel skills, Power BI experience, or SQL knowledge.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to draw conclusions and recommendations from data
• Good communication skills
• SAP experience or willingness to learn SAP
• Good English communication skills
