The College Prep Program Counselor position is part of the Undergraduate Admissions Office team reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions that focuses on advising and supporting students participating in the College Prep Program. The College Prep Program Counselor will be based at WashU and will primarily serve students who are part of WashU’s College Prep Program. This position will advise, remotely and in person, high school students who participate in CPP through the college process. This includes virtual meetings with students and regular virtual accessibility, presentations on applying to college, and regular in-person meeting opportunities. Additionally, the College Prep Program Counselor will assist in executing programs for the group of students served by the College Prep Program, including visits to colleges in our region, campus workshops, and the College Prep Program’s Summer Academy which takes place over several weeks in the summertime in residence at WashU.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
College Advising
- Provide individual college advising with students participating in the College Prep Program or identified by their school or community organization as high talent but needing more support in understanding or accessing a selective college.
- Host virtual and in-person events with students and schools to promote college-going, assist with application completion, provide essay support, and provide financial aid counseling.
- Is available to students via phone, email, or in person at WashU.
Program Management
- Work with the Associate Director who oversees the College Prep Program to plan and execute activities for the College Prep Program, including staffing, planning on and off campus programs and supporting the execution of the residential Summer Academy.
- Provide support to other project area(s) and program(s) as assigned by supervisor and/or departmental leadership.

- Normal office environment.
- The position will be located remotely. As conditions merit, working in an open office environment may be required.
- Travel and attendance at many events on and off campus is necessary.
- Work outside of normal business hours is necessary throughout the year.
Physical Effort
- Typically sitting at a desk or table.
- Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement.
- Ability to move to on and off-campus locations.
- Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.
- Must transport recruitment materials to high school visits, college fairs, and group meetings.

- Position requires heavy use of the computer in the office and at home.

Base pay is commensurate with experience.The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.Questions
