Compensation consultants work with a wide range of clients to help them develop and implement reward programs for their employees, providing expert advice on pay philosophy, reward strategy, incentive design, market trends, regulations and best practices. Drawing on global research and rigorous analysis, compensation consultants equip clients with guidance, knowledge, tools and support to ensure their reward programs reinforce their strategic objectives. A Compensation Consulting Manager leads a group of professional individual contributors to achieve operational results, helping them to establish goals, solve problems, and work across the organization.

Supervises compensation consultants and/or analysts as direct reports, has full authority for people management including:

  • Assigning, directing, and evaluating work.
  • Hiring, disciplining and firing employees.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and career development discussions.
  • Approving salary and bonus actions
  • Ensuring appropriate orientation and on-going education/training.

Manages client projects:

  • Prepares project charts and templates using project management tools, estimates hours for the project team, and prepares timelines for project milestones.
  • Serves as an independent project manager for more straightforward projects or modules.
  • Ensures client projects adhere to budget.
  • Immediately addresses out-of-scope issues or budget overruns and manages the client’s expectations.
  • Prioritizes project activities to manage the workload and meet project deadlines.
  • Delegates project tasks in line with individual capability, development needs and available analyst and associate resources.
  • Leads both internal and client project status meetings.

Writes engagement letters including project steps for senior consultants’ review. Serves as a primary client contact and builds relationships with clients. Conducts client interviews, facilitates focus groups, and delivers training. Is responsible for the technical part of client presentations to HR and management, for ongoing client relationships. Has a speaking role at client meetings to review the technical aspects of the reports.

Responsible for scheduling meetings with clients and issuing client data requests.

Writes and reviews client PowerPoint presentations/reports including Excel exhibits and initial conclusions on the data drawn by Associates.

Works closely with senior consultants on the project to determine the exhibits to be included in the final client presentations, which typically involves a high level of customization.

Sales: writes project proposals and answers to Requests for Proposals. Suggests project extensions based on existing work. Attends sales calls.

Thought leadership develops new tools and templates that can be leveraged in multiple markets such as new excel-based tools and templates for determining internal and external market competitiveness.

Delivers standard training programs internally and externally.

Ensures intellectual capital generated within own projects is captured and available for others to draw on.

Main requirements and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting, Psychology, Human Resources, or related fields.
  • Solid experience in Compensation (e.g., salary surveys, job and salary structures, benefits, governance, and policies) and Executive Compensation (Short-Term Incentives, Sales Force Incentives, and Long-Term Incentives).
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools, project management, prompt engineering, and general artificial intelligence concepts.
  • Advanced English (required) and Spanish (preferred).
