## Role Purpose

  • Own the Radio Networks capacity/capability planning to identify the best solutions for network expansion to guarantee the required capacity that fulfils the marketing and business demand and requirements
  • Own the Radio Networks roadmaps and strategic planning to identify the network investment for the coming 3 years in timely cost efficient way and in compliance with the global team recommendations.

Accountabilities, Strategic Planning:

  • Own the 3-years plan and budget that summarizes the investment in the Radio domains.
  • Liaise with technology office and commercial teams for the DB and LRP submissions.
  • Ensure that marketing forecast for the coming 3 years will be supported within Radio domains.
  • Control the storyboard that indicates the network evolution and expansions during the short and long-term periods.
  • Evaluate new vendors’ propositions and handle the related RFQ’s/RFP’s.
  • Develop long range plans, risk analysis and identify the appropriate contingency actions.
  • Contribute in brainstorming activities with other functions across the organization to agree on VF-EG strategic directions.
  • Defines the short and long term network investment targets and network KPIs and align it with Regional operations, RAN and Core teams for smooth implementation.

Low-cost solutions development:

  • Develop and assess different technical solutions and Radio design and planning approaches to minimize the cost and increase efficiency within the Radio Access domain.
  • Develop and outline different scenarios for commercial deals with telecommunication suppliers.
  • Ensure cost efficiency in the DB and LRP submissions to cope with CAPEX intensity targets.

H/W and S/W roadmap management

  • Handle the supplier releases and roadmaps for the different Radio vendors
  • Identify the different milestones for each product family
  • Define Vodafone Egypt H/W products strategy
  • Interact and collaborate with Vodafone Group for the investigation of Radio Hardware and solutions roadmaps
  • Manage the trials and tests for new hardware and platforms on existing network.
  • Manage the plan for modernization and refreshment programs.
  • Liaising with finance team to minimize the financial impact of phasing out legacy products.

Network Capacity Planning

  • Develop 1-year plan that fulfils the capacity/capability demands of the commercial and business teams
  • Ensure that network capacity is supported for each geographical area
  • Review the supplier’s catalogues and product packages and identify the convenient solution.
  • Apply HW/SW upgrades & extensions, and study their impact on the network, and perform new hardware business cases and participate in the business cases of capacity features introduction
  • Ensure a build ahead capacity that secures a reliable service bounded by the approved budget

## Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership

Network Dimensioning and Modelling:

  • Use and develop automated tools to measure and predict the Radio network capacity and capability.
  • Update the network capacity on a regular basis.
  • Study and evaluate different solutions for eliminating the network bottlenecks
  • Engage with Vodafone Group in the network design and dimensioning forums

Global network coordination:

  • Liaise with VF-Group to ensure the best target architecture is implemented in the network.
  • Contribute to the global meetings/conferences to share best practices across Vodafone OpCos.
  • Explain and justify the progress of VFE in relevant projects.
  • Manage the technical plans in coordination with the global competence centre.
  • Ensure that global KPIs, guidelines and milestones are appropriately met.

Marketing interface:

  • Study the impact of marketing promo and act as the SPOC for new commercial propositions acceptance.
  • Capacity assessment for the new commercial services and propositions.

Management skills:

  • Identify and implement improvements to the business processes and procedures.
  • Develop training plans and other programs to empower team members
  • Transfer of knowledge and experience to subordinates and team members
  • Liaise and negotiate with infrastructure suppliers for the best and appropriate deals that facilitate the bringing into service the company’s RAN networks.
  • Handle technical conflicts with vendor.
  • Prepare progress reports to higher management.

## Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience

Education:

B.Sc or M.Sc Degree in communication / electronics engineering.

MBA holder is a plus

Work Experience:

Minimum of 8 years; post qualification experience in the Capacity planning field; preferably in the Radio Network planning work.

Technical skills:

Very Good knowledge of network design concepts, topology and restructuring techniques
