We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will play a key part in designing, developing, and maintaining our cutting-edge vintrace product solution. vintrace is a wine production software for future-forward producers that streamlines the winemaking process from grape to bottle. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, enhance system modules, and deliver high-quality software that meets business and customer needs.

What You'll Do:
Software Development & Design
- Contribute to the design and delivery of key features and RESTful APIs, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
- Optimise system and database performance using concurrency models and query optimisation techniques.
- Tackle technical challenges using effective problem-solving methodologies.
- Contribute to proof-of-concept projects to validate new ideas and support the adoption of innovative technologies.
Technical Execution & Quality
- Participate in scoping & design discussions and help identify potential project risks early.
- Follow coding standards and participate actively in peer code reviews to ensure long-term maintainability and consistency across the codebase.
- Champion quality by applying consistent automated testing strategies and TDD best practices within the team.
- Take part in cross-functional discussions to ensure technical implementations align with product vision.
- Proactively share knowledge with peers and contribute to building a highly-collaborative team environment.
- Triage and troubleshoot issues directly impacting customers to deliver timely fixes.
What You'll Bring to Encompass:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in software development or a related role.
Required Skills:
- Core Stack: Proficiency in Java with practical, hands-on experience using Spring Boot.
- APIs: Solid background in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
- Database: Practical experience with Relational Databases (MySQL) and ORM tools (Hibernate), including query optimization.
- DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with React and TypeScript in building web user interfaces.
- JSF (PrimeFaces)

- Salary: This role will receive a competitive salary, superannuation, and bonus.
- Location: We are a remote-first organization and are open to applicants for both hybrid and fully remote roles. Our AU corporate office is located in Melbourne, AU. *Must be located in Australia*
- Flexibility Note: Due to the international nature of our business, this role requires occasional flexibility for after-hours internal strategy calls, client meetings across time zones, or urgent system issues, as well as occasional local or international travel.
