ABOUT CORPSAFRICA
Founded in 2011, CorpsAfrica provides the opportunity for Africans to be “CorpsAfrica Volunteers” in
their own countries. These “CorpsAfrica Volunteers” receive development training and learn about the
variety and work of NGOs in their country. Volunteers then move to high-poverty communities, where
they facilitate meetings to help local people determine priority needs and bring in regional NGOs to
help design and implement projects that address those needs. The Volunteers then perform a
comprehensive impact evaluation analysis to serve as a model for future projects. CorpsAfrica aims to
create a culture of public service within developing nations by allowing participants to apply their
skills and energy toward helping their fellow citizens overcome extreme poverty. For more information

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and timely transportation services for
CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia staff, Volunteers, visitors, and organizational materials while ensuring
compliance with organizational safety and security procedures. The role also supports vehicle
maintenance, documentation, and adherence to traffic regulations to promote safe and efficient
operations.

Reports to: Deputy Country Director 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safely transport staff, guests, and authorized visitors to and from designated locations.
• Deliver and collect official documents, parcels, and supplies as required.
• Ensure the company vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy at all times.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, water, tires, brakes) and report any mechanical issues promptly.
• Ensure timely servicing, insurance, and inspection of the vehicle in line with company requirements.
• Observe all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company driving policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when transporting staff or handling company materials.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and driving regulations, including maintaining responsible driving behavior and strictly refraining from driving under the influence of alcohol or any impairing substances.
• Promptly report all incidents, accidents, and safety concerns through the appropriate organizational reporting channels.
• Maintain effective time management when there is work related field trips and ensure punctuality in reporting to work and carrying out assigned duties.
• Be willing to spend extended period of time in the field. Please note, perdiem is not available.
• Should be flexible for late night, weekend and extended hour driving support or as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Valid driving license with a clean driving record. Grade 4 driving license a plus.
• At least 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably within an NGO or organizational setting.
• Good knowledge of road safety regulations and routes within Ethiopia. First aid training certificate a plus.
• Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge is an added advantage.
