Science Academic Mentor | Lewisham

Are you a Science graduate looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school before pursuing Teacher Training? This Science Academic Mentor role in Lewisham provides the opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers while supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4.

As a Science Academic Mentor, you will use your subject knowledge to provide additional academic support, helping pupils understand challenging concepts and develop greater confidence in Science. You will work with pupils individually and in small groups, while also gaining valuable insight into classroom teaching.

Full Academic Year | £500–£550 per week

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils during Science lessons.

• Encouraging pupils to become more confident and independent learners.
• Assisting teachers with practical activities and classroom resources.
• Providing feedback on pupil progress and engagement.

The successful Science Academic Mentor will:

• Hold a 2:1 degree or above in Science or a related subject.
• Have strong A-Levels or equivalent academic qualifications.
• Have excellent subject knowledge.
• Be confident explaining scientific concepts to secondary-age pupils.
• Have experience working with young people, either professionally or voluntarily.
• Be considering Teacher Training or a future career in education.
