We are seeking to hire a Safety Coordinator for the Emerson Creek T-Line Project near Sandusky in Bellevue, Ohio. The position is a temporary (seven to 12 months), or temporary-to-full-time opportunity for a candidate willing to travel to multiple jobsites.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Safety Coordinator provides day-to-day direction, leadership, coaching, and sound judgment to eliminate or reduce at-risk environments and behaviors in the workplace. This full-time, on-site role supports the Safety Department and reports to the Safety Manager.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Champion Safety Culture. Provide day-to-day safety direction, leadership, and coaching while reinforcing safe and healthful conditions for employees.
- Conduct Workplace Inspections. Assist management and supervision with inspections across commercial electrical, heavy industrial, and transmission and distribution operations.
- Deliver Safety Training. Assist with and conduct training related to construction standards and the Sargent Electric Safety Program.
- Investigate Incidents. Conduct accident investigations, identify root causal factors, and implement action items to help prevent recurrence.
- Support Employee Onboarding. Coordinate safety onboarding for new employees assigned to the project.

- Additional Responsibilities. Assume any additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Executive Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety sciences or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Working knowledge of CFR 1910 and 1926 requirements.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with hazards associated with electric transmission and distribution work is preferred.
- OSHA 500 Outreach Instructor authorization and CHST, CUSP, ASP, or CSP certification are preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills and proficiency with computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- The ability to work efficiently under tight timeframes, respond to requests in a timely manner, collaborate as a team player, and manage multiple priorities.
- 1–3 years of relevant safety experience.
- Construction safety experience supporting commercial electrical, heavy industrial, or transmission and distribution operations.
