Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will lead the development, delivery, and ongoing evolution of innovative products that support Fannie Mae’s Single-Family business. You will provide product leadership and expert guidance throughout the product lifecycle—from identifying customer and business needs through implementation, adoption, measurement, and continuous improvement.

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Single-Family Market Engagement Product Management — Lead Associate will play a key role in advancing artificial intelligence capabilities for the Single-Family Market Engagement team and other technology products supporting Fannie Mae’s Single-Family business.

In this role, you will combine AI product experience, strategic thinking, customer focus, and cross-functional leadership to translate complex business needs into responsible, scalable, and valuable product capabilities. You will work alongside colleagues who care deeply about Fannie Mae’s mission while having the flexibility to shape how you deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Lead AI product strategy and ownership: Take end-to-end ownership of AI-enabled products and capabilities, including solutions already in production. Define the product vision and roadmap, identify customer and business needs, establish requirements, prioritize the backlog, support delivery, and drive post-launch measurement and optimization.

  • Shape the AI roadmap: Partner with business, technology, data, risk, and program leaders to evaluate opportunities and influence the strategic direction of the AI portfolio. Use customer insights, business value, technical feasibility, risk considerations, and data to recommend priorities and clearly communicate trade-offs.

  • Translate AI opportunities into product outcomes: Identify practical applications of AI, including generative AI, that improve customer and employee experiences, strengthen business processes, or create measurable operational value. Convert complex technical concepts into clear product strategies, requirements, and recommendations.

  • Champion responsible AI: Partner with legal, compliance, information security, model risk, privacy, and other governance teams to ensure AI products are developed and operated safely, securely, transparently, and in accordance with Fannie Mae’s AI governance standards.

  • Drive adoption and change: Support organizational change management by developing communications, training resources, implementation plans, and feedback mechanisms. Serve as a visible champion for AI products and help users understand how to apply them responsibly and effectively.

  • Develop business cases: Create compelling, data-informed business cases that define expected benefits, costs, risks, success measures, and investment requirements. Use these business cases to support roadmap decisions and funding approvals.

  • Measure product performance: Define product goals and success metrics, monitor adoption and business outcomes, gather user feedback, and use findings to guide continuous improvement.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience

  • Previous AI product experience is required for this position. Candidates must have demonstrated experience developing, launching, or managing enterprise AI-enabled products or capabilities in a production environment.

  • At least four years of experience in product management, product ownership, or a closely related product leadership role.

  • Demonstrated experience taking at least one enterprise AI-enabled product or capability through multiple stages of the product lifecycle, such as discovery, business-case development, requirements definition, delivery, production launch, adoption, measurement, or optimization.

  • Working knowledge of AI product concepts, opportunities, limitations, and risks, including the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, data science, machine learning, architecture, security, risk, legal, and business teams.

  • Experience defining product strategy, developing roadmaps, prioritizing backlogs, writing requirements or user stories, and supporting Agile product delivery.

  • Proven ability to translate complex business and technical information into clear recommendations, decisions, and communications for technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and building alignment among stakeholders with different priorities, perspectives, and areas of expertise.

  • Experience using product management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms.

  • Demonstrated curiosity, sound judgment, and adaptability in evaluating and responsibly applying emerging technologies.

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

  • Shows curiosity and adaptability in learning and responsibly applying new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we work.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with generative AI, large language models, conversational AI, intelligent automation, machine learning products, or AI-enabled decision-support tools.

  • Experience developing or managing sales enablement, customer engagement, workflow, or employee productivity products.

  • Familiarity with major customer relationship management platforms, such as Salesforce

  • Experience with digital product design, user research, service design, or customer-experience methodologies.

  • Experience developing product analytics, adoption measures, experimentation strategies, or outcome-based performance metrics.
