Description
Do you believe secure, reliable data exchange is essential to keeping a global enterprise moving? We do! Ford’s business depends on the timely, accurate, and secure exchange of data with suppliers, partners, dealers, logistics providers, and internal systems. That’s where the Data Exchange team makes an impact. We provide enterprise integration capabilities that enable critical business processes and support Ford operations around the world.
We are seeking an experienced Data Exchange Engineer to design, build, operate, and continuously improve secure data-integration solutions across Ford’s global partner ecosystem. In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of Axway B2Bi software and develop robust end-to-end partner integrations that support high availability, data integrity, security, and operational resilience.
This role requires strong technical expertise in managed file transfer, B2B integration, enterprise middleware, Linux and Windows administration, databases, scripting, and production support. Working with a diverse global team and cross-functional business and technology partners, you will help modernize user experiences, optimize operations, reduce manual effort, and deliver dependable data-exchange capabilities at enterprise scale.
- Lead the full lifecycle management of Axway B2Bi software, including installation, configuration, multi-node deployment, environment tuning, upgrades, patching, and operational support.
- Design, develop, implement, and support end-to-end B2B integration workflows between Ford and its global partner ecosystem.
- Configure and support partner integrations using protocols such as SFTP, OFTP2, AS2, ALE, web services, and related secure data-exchange technologies.
- Ensure integration solutions meet requirements for high availability, data integrity, performance, scalability, security, recoverability, and operational continuity.
- Partner with business teams, application teams, external partners, security teams, infrastructure teams, and operations teams to gather requirements and deliver reliable integration solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex integration, connectivity, infrastructure, file-transfer, middleware, database, and application issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis for production incidents and implement long-term corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop automated monitoring, alerting, health checks, and operational-reporting solutions to improve system uptime and reduce manual intervention.
- Use Python and shell scripting to automate routine administrative tasks, support operational processes, improve system functionality, and increase engineering efficiency.
- Administer and support UNIX/Linux and Windows Server environments that host or enable enterprise data-exchange platforms.
- Use SQL Server, Oracle, or similar database technologies to troubleshoot issues, analyze operational data, develop reports, and support platform performance.
- Support message-queuing capabilities using IBM MQ Series or comparable messaging and middleware technologies.
- Participate in technical design reviews, platform architecture discussions, change planning, release activities, and operational-readiness assessments.
- Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation, including integration specifications, partner onboarding procedures, runbooks, support processes, configuration records, and recovery plans.
- Apply secure software-development, access-control, data-protection, and enterprise cybersecurity practices to all integration solutions.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve processes, standardize delivery practices, strengthen platform resilience, and enhance the customer and partner experience.
- Contribute to a collaborative global engineering culture through knowledge sharing, peer reviews, mentoring, continuous learning, and strong communication.
We recognize that no one person will embody every single quality or skill listed below. If you are passionate about enterprise integration, data exchange, operational excellence, and building secure technology solutions that enable Ford’s global business, we encourage you to apply.
