Position Summary

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting warehouse operations while ensuring safe, accurate, compliant, and efficient execution of site activities. This position requires significant knowledge within the warehouse and operations discipline, along with developing knowledge of related areas such as supply chain, inventory control, shipping, compliance, facilities, and production support.

The Warehouse Supervisor works with moderate supervision and increasingly operates independently when managing day-to-day responsibilities, resolving operational issues, coordinating vendors and contractors, and supporting internal customers. The role requires sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and the ability to evaluate solutions while considering both immediate operational needs and longer-term business implications.  The position may also supervise employees or contractors and serve as a resource to colleagues with less experience.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations & Inventory Control:

  • Manage and maintain warehouse space and serve as a primary point of contact for warehouse-related activities and service providers.
  • Administer and perform cycle-count activities, using SAP-generated inventory priorities and investigating inventory discrepancies.
  • Research and resolve inventory issues and root causes using SAP and MES, including issues related to operational discipline and system transactions.
  • Partner with Supply Chain on inventory write-offs and write-ons while maintaining appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Support warehouse and production activities by coordinating required materials, labels, supplies, and other operational needs.

Shipping, Labeling & Regulatory Support:

  • Support sample shipments, including required packaging and documentation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable transportation requirements, including DOT and IATA requirements.
  • Support GHS labeling activities, including label printing and coordination of label content, templates, and sizing when required.
  • Coordinate with appropriate corporate Hazard Communication resources on labeling-related matters.
  • Support activities involving DOT/IATA and IMDG requirements as applicable to the operation.

Systems & Equipment Support:

  • Serve as the site contact for Zebra and other label-printing equipment, including coordination of equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and service contracts.
  • Serve as a primary site contact for the forklift telemetry system and coordinate resolution of system-related issues with the appropriate service provider.
  • Provide operational support across SAP and MES processes associated with inventory and warehouse activities.
  • Resolve Webcycle-related transactions, including posting receipts and serving as a point of contact for Accounts Payable when requester information or receiving activity needs clarification.

Vendor, Contractor & Facilities Coordination:

  • Coordinate with third-party warehouse/service providers and act as a site point of contact as required.
  • Support contractor-related activities and participate in incident investigations involving contractor injuries when appropriate.
  • Coordinate janitorial and landscaping vendors, including account and invoice management.
  • Manage applicable vendor relationships associated with security cameras, warehouse equipment, PPE, janitorial materials, and other site services.
  • Coordinate empty-container disposal, including drums and totes, and arrange vendor pickups as necessary.

Site & Cross-Functional Support:

  • Provide purchasing and ordering support for maintenance and production needs, including non-SAP materials.
  • Support Manufacturing Technology and R&D activities with ordering and SAP-related processes as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, R&D, Maintenance, EHS, Accounts Payable, and other internal functions.
  • Provide supervisory or administrative support for assigned personnel or contractors, including timecard approval as applicable.
  • Support site administrative systems and activities as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects based on site and business needs, including facility and infrastructure-related initiatives.

Scope & Decision Making:

  • Applies conceptual and practical knowledge within the warehouse and operations discipline while continuing to develop knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Uses experience, judgment, established practices, and precedent to analyze and resolve moderately complex or occasionally unstructured problems.
  • Works increasingly independently with minimal to moderate guidance.
  • Understands key business drivers and considers their effect on warehouse, customer, operational, project, and service activities.
  • Exercises judgment that considers future implications in addition to resolving the immediate issue.
  • Has the ability to understand operational requirements, communicate recommendations, and influence appropriate outcomes.
  • May provide guidance, direction, or subject-matter support to colleagues with less experience.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, supply chain, manufacturing operations, logistics, or a related discipline.
  • Working knowledge of inventory-management and warehouse processes.
  • Experience investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate issues, determine root causes, and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational responsibilities and priorities with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple functions.
  • Ability to coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment while understanding the broader operational impact of decisions.

  • Knowledge of cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience with warehouse labeling systems and Zebra printers.
  • Experience working with GHS labeling or Hazard Communication requirements.
  • DOT/IATA shipping training or experience.
