Social Media Manager, Complex MENA

Complex MENA is looking for a Social Media Manager with a sharp eye for content, a head for numbers, and a passion for the culture. You’ll own social performance across Instagram, TikTok, Snap and YouTube, using audience data and cultural knowledge to guide creative decisions and test new tools, strategies and AI integrations to improve how we make, publish and measure content. You know the Complex patch inside out, from music, sport and sneakers to style, food and internet culture. You know which talent to spotlight and which events Complex MENA needs to cover. You speak Arabic fluently, work independently, take initiative, and learn fast.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the social publishing plan and its execution, with a clear point of view on which content and relevant formats, stories, and franchises belong on each platform.

• Work with the EIC and social team to sharpen hooks, edits, thumbnails, captions and carousels, and take ownership of the posts you pitch and publish each day.

• Run structured tests on hooks, thumbnails, video lengths, publishing times, and formats. Use the results to improve recurring series, launch new formats and decide where to invest your time.

• Build clear weekly reports that explain what drove performance and what the team should do next, sharing these insights with the EIC.

• Spot emerging talent, stories and conversations across the region in pop culture, music, sport, food and fashion and bring timely, platform-native ideas into social planning.

• Experiment with AI and automation for social listening, trend discovery, reporting, clip selection and creative testing, building the tools that work into the team’s day-to-day.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Experience growing social channels for a publisher, entertainment brand, creator or culture-led business, with examples that show what you changed and the impact it had.

• Strong analytical skills. You can read a retention curve, distinguish a one-off viral hit from a repeatable format and translate the numbers into a clear brief for a creative team.

• Strong visual and editorial taste. You know when a thumbnail needs a different frame, a carousel needs a stronger opener or a TikTok needs a better hook.

• A deep understanding of Complex and the cultures it covers, plus a working knowledge of MENA’s creators, communities and cultural scenes.

• Hands-on experience with platform analytics and reporting tools and confidence building dashboards or working directly with the data.

• Genuine curiosity about AI. Ideally, you’ve already built or adapted a tool, automation or workflow that improved how you plan, produce, distribute or measure social content.

• Arabic fluency is a must. Experience at a relevant publisher is highly desirable.
