Material Handler

The base hourly rate for this position is $21.59.

This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience. This position is part of the Pay for Skills program and is part of skills progression. This employee will be placed in Shipping, but may advance to any of the following positions: Mixer, Winder, Vat, Mid Operator, or Palletizer. Hours are Mon.-Fri. 8 am -4 pm.

Responsibilities: 

• Follow all Johns Manville safety procedures and policies
• Relieve other employees as directed
• Maintain communication to ensure quality product is being made
• Maintaining daily housekeeping requirements
• Follow JSA/SOP’s
• Wear proper clothing and PPE as required
• Complete all training and meetings
• Understand and use all appropriate checks and checklists
• Complete production reporting
• Other duties may vary depending on the position assignment, check with your supervisor for more details.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• There are no supervisory responsibilities for direct reports for this position.

Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years fork lift experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment
• Problem Solving
• Customer Service
• Ability to shift and handle time sensitive priorities as demands require
• Communicate effectively verbally and electronically
• SAP experience a plus
• Strong time management, organizational, planning, and self-motivation skills

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are: (these requirements are typical for most of our manufacturing roles)                                                                                  

• The ability to stand for extended periods
• The ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.                                                                                             
• Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, feeling, sensing, pulling)                                       
• The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
• The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).                                                                                              
• The ability to withstand the rigors of working a 12(or 8)-hour rotating shift schedule.                        
• The ability to bend, stoop or kneel repetitively.                                                                                            
• The ability to reach or work above the shoulder
