Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do

We're seeking an Advisor to join our team and help deliver high-quality advice that supports Government and Ministry priorities. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys analysing complex issues, working across a wide range of stakeholders, and contributing to policy and operational work that makes a real difference. You'll be part of a collaborative environment where you'll develop your understanding of government decision-making, build strong relationships, and contribute to work that advances equity and improves outcomes for New Zealanders.

• Provide high-quality advice and analysis to support decision-making and contribute to the delivery of Government and Ministry priorities.

• Manage a diverse portfolio of work with competing deadlines, ensuring high-quality outputs are delivered on time and to agreed standards.

• Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to contribute to key projects, work programmes, and Ministry-wide initiatives.

• Build trusted relationships and apply your understanding of the machinery of government to support effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

• Drive continuous improvement by contributing to better processes, tools, frameworks, and ways of working, while ensuring all work reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations and a commitment to equity.

• A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience, with strong analytical, research and problem-solving capability.

• Sound judgement and critical thinking skills, with the ability to develop options and provide high-quality advice.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.

• Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to deliver results in complex environments while managing competing priorities and navigating the machinery of government.
