- Track, monitor, and analyze federal and state legislation and regulatory activity relevant to this company and its clients, synthesizing developments into clear, actionable insights for internal stakeholders.
- Support the assessment of risks, opportunities, and business impacts associated with evolving policy environments.
- Execute state-level advocacy strategies across key markets, including engaging with legislators, executive offices, and regulatory agencies in coordination with Government Affairs leadership.
- Coordinate with and support the management of external stakeholders, including contract lobbyists, consultants, trade associations, and coalition partners.
- Identify and track priority legislation and regulatory activity, contributing to efforts to influence outcomes aligned with the business and policy objectives.
- Develop policy materials, including briefings, memoranda, regulatory comment letters, white papers, legislative testimony, and model bill language.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with policymakers, industry partners, and customers to support advocacy initiatives.
- Support coalition-building and grassroots efforts in partnership with trade associations, allies, and customers.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal business units and subject matter experts to align policy positions, messaging, and advocacy efforts.
- Represent at industry meetings, trade associations, and policy forums, as appropriate.
- Monitor political and policy landscape shifts and provide updates on legislative dynamics and emerging trends.
- Support Political Action Committee (PAC) activities, including materials and compliance tracking.
- Contribute to identifying opportunities where policy and advocacy efforts may support business priorities.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MPA, MPP, or related field) preferred.
- 6–8+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or legislative roles, with exposure to state-level advocacy.
- Strong understanding of state and federal legislative and regulatory processes.
- Experience supporting advocacy strategies and engaging with policymakers or government stakeholders.
- Experience working with external stakeholders such as lobbyists, consultants, or trade associations.
- Strong political awareness and ability to navigate complex government environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex issues clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across teams and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
