Description
Performs intermediate semi-skilled and skilled work in a variety of maintenance, repair, and modification of buildings, facilities and related equipment, and related work as required. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Building Services Supervisor. The following duties are those considered most essential to the position. This does not preclude the delegation of other duties considered as necessary by management to successfully complete an assignment or project.
High school diploma or GED and up to 2 years of experience in the performance of maintenance and repair work. Or a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills to complete the essential functions and job responsibilities of this position.
Possession of valid NC pesticide application license preferred within six months of hire. Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
This position requires weekends and evenings and is subject to Emergency Call Back during emergency situations and inclement weather.This position’s physical requirements involve medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities may be required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and/or walking.
Work frequently requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally requires exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat, and bloodborne pathogens, and may require wearing specialized personal protective equipment. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. outside or inside around maintenance equipment and repair tools). May be required to work during inclement weather events.

- Performs monthly OSHA-type inspections of all town facilities and buildings.
- Assists in general plumbing maintenance and repair including repairing water lines and restroom fixtures.
- Assists in general maintenance duties such as general HVAC repairs, roofing repairs, painting objects, restrooms, shelters, buildings, dugouts, etc.
- Repairs and maintains fences, shelters and tables.
- Assists in general carpentry and repair tasks.
- Assists in flooring, asphalt and concrete repair or installation.
- Performs general custodial duties; sweeps and mops facilities; cleans restrooms; removes trash; assists in maintaining gymnasium floor.
- Assists in the repair and maintenance of basic plumbing fixtures, electrical, lighting, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work.
- Sets up and breaks down for events.
- Applies pesticides.
- Assists in concrete and asphalt installation and repairs.
- Serves on the Town safety committee.
- Operates heavy equipment including tractors, excavators, gators, and backhoes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
