Description
Performs part-time on-site management of The Barns at New Market including overall oversight of all buildings and grounds to ensure cleanliness and upkeep, addresses vendor concerns, greet visitors to the market; perform value-added market and event admission sales interacts with visitors to provide information and address concerns, maintains daily financial and vendor attendance records; perform light housekeeping and maintenance; performs other duties as assigned, reports to with Agriculture Division. Assists with the marketing and promotion of markets and events, including efforts to attract and
retain vendors and customers through outreach, visitor engagement, and promotional support.
- Reports directly to Agriculture Division Manager;
- Ensures buildings, grounds, and common areas are clean, safe, organized, and properly maintained;
- Serves as the on-site contact for vendors, customers, and visitors by answering questions and addressing concerns in a professional manner;
- Light housekeeping duties & maintenance; light grounds maintenance and gardening;
- Operates value-added market and electronically processes payments for goods;
- Assists with vendor recruitment, retention, and communication efforts to support market growth;
- Receive market vendor applications and maintain roster of existing vendors;
- May be asked to assist with market program and event planning and presentation;
- Monitors compliance with market rules, facility policies, and safety procedures;
- Performs other duties as assigned by Agriculture Division Manager.
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures;
- Ability to follow Agriculture Division procedures;
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with vendors, customers, staff, and the public;
- Ability to apply departmental policies and procedures to daily work tasks;
- Ability to work independently on tasks and maintain accurate records;
- Ability to utilize relevant resources to research information;
- Ability to assist with marketing and promotional efforts, including social media, outreach, and public engagement;
- Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software,
- and simple office machines. (such as cash register; credit card machine, and photocopier)
- High school diploma or G.E.D;
- Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience;
- Valid drivers license;
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test;
- Requires background investigation with favorable consideration.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
- Work requires the ability to comfortably walk and talk¼ mile without resting;
- Work requires the ability to climb steep stairs, reach, pull and lift up to 25 lbs.;
- Work requires the ability to work outdoors in diverse temperatures and weather conditions;
