As a QFS Plant Laboratory Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring food safety and product quality through effective laboratory operations, compliance with Danone and regulatory standards, timely management of quality non-conformances, and the promotion of a safe working environment.
About You
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead laboratory quality assurance and operations in compliance with ISO 17025, Danone Analytical Excellence standards, and digital quality systems, ensuring accreditation readiness and document control.
- Oversee all testing, calibration, sampling, and product release activities for raw materials, packaging, semi-finished and finished products in line with control and monitoring plans.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, interpretation, approval, and communication of all microbiological, chemical, process, and product analysis results.
- Manage laboratory performance through KPI tracking, data reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, audits, non-conformance management, and method optimization.
- Drive laboratory digitalization, automation, technology upgrades, and facility improvements while maintaining effective workflows and contamination control.
- Own laboratory budgets, resource planning, equipment maintenance, calibration programs, proficiency testing, and operational cost control.
- Lead supplier quality management by supporting supplier selection and evaluation, specification development, quality improvement programs, and food safety risk management.
- Manage incoming materials inspection, hold/release decisions, control plans, sampling strategies, and quality governance programs (ABC, API, iCare).
- Develop laboratory team capabilities through performance management, training, competency assessment, succession planning, and individual development plans.
- Provide technical expertise for problem-solving, crisis management, innovation, renovation, homologation projects, and manufacturing incident support.
- Coordinate laboratory activities and quality communications with internal stakeholders, external laboratories, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure full accountability for laboratory compliance, results integrity, reporting standards, managerial responsibilities, and support of plant quality and food safety objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- 5+years of laboratory experience, including 2–3 years in a laboratory leadership or management role.
- Strong expertise in microbiological and chemical testing, quality control systems, and laboratory best practices.
- Solid knowledge of GMP, GLP, HACCP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and applicable food safety and regulatory standards.
- Experience with laboratory accreditation and audit management is preferred.
- Proven people leadership, team development, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities with experience working cross-functionally.
- Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory information systems (LIMS), with good written and spoken English.
