Description
Our client operating in the Shipping sector is seeking to recruit an Engineering Clerk. The chosen candidate will act as a focal point for Operations, the Engineering Foreman, Superintendents and Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining close liaison between the Operations and Engineering departments as regards the reporting of faults and handling of equipment.
- Providing information and ensuring that detailed and updated records related to equipment availability are compiled and kept in an orderly manner.
- Keeping detailed records and providing updated information on matters concerning the engineering works program and works in hand being done by both Engineering Department personnel and contractors.
- Attending to the duty Superintendent’s mobile phone during normal working hours.
- Keeping accurate and detailed records of all calls and requests received from Operations and directing them for action by the relevant Engineering Foreman/Superintendent/Manager.
- Setting out tasks for action according to their priority as instructed by the Engineering Superintendents, in line with the Engineering Department’s policies and/or as instructed by the Engineering Manager or Senior Manager.
- Generating, keeping and updating reports related to past and current employment availability, incidents and works done.
- Updating the duty Superintendent, using both verbal and written means of communication on the equipment situation, immediately after and before the end of the normal working day.
- Undertaking general clerical duties as may be required, including the use of a computer, fax machine, and telephone.
- Undertaking and/or assisting in other duties as may reasonably be required by the company.
- Working on shift basis if work exigencies so require.
- Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Stopping work or equipment if unsafe conditions are observed and reporting to the supervisor/manager.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- An MQF Level 3 qualification.
- Previous experience is not required however it would be considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
