Description
- Removes components for repair or replacement such as, but not limited to, injectors, starters, water pumps, radiators, brakes, etc.
- Knowledge of a vehicle's engine, emission systems, transmission, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform preventive and repair maintenance functions.
- Engine chassis repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems to maintain and repair the vehicles in a timely and safe manner.
- Knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems to effectively diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems in a timely and safe manner.
- Safely operating welding tools to repair heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the equipment is back in an operable condition as quickly and safely as possible.
- Identify the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools.
- Ensure the fleet meets DOT regulations and safety standards, and preventative maintenance.
- Available to work overtime as needed.
- At least 2 years of prior experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
- Knowledge in air brakes and tires, hydraulics, and electrical.
- Suspension, steering, and wheel-end components training.
- Own basic tools.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to inclement weather.
- Works in, on top of, and under equipment in tiring and uncomfortable positions frequently bending, stretching, crouching, and squatting for up to 10 + hours a Shift.
- Exerting 35 to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 35 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
