Summary

Under general direction, is responsible for coordination of 4-H outreach projects and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, recruits, schedules, and educates youth participants in 4-H curriculum enrichment programs and clubs

  • Uses approved curricula and identifies teaching strategies that promote leadership, and personal development among youth participants

  • Facilitates and collects pre- and post- program surveys to evaluate and interpret program efficacy

  • Organizes community events that promote 4-H and youth leadership

  • Recruits and engages volunteers to strengthen programming efforts

  • Coordinates with local youth agencies/organizations and local schools to coordinate services to enhance program delivery

  • Coordinates with County Extension Agent-4-H & Youth Development to establish program area committee, coalitions, and task forces that support various youth initiatives

  • Develops and follows detailed, annual program plans

  • Completes required weekly, monthly, and annual program reports

  • Participates in professional development training activities

  • Seeks supplemental, financial support for 4-H & Youth Development program

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science, Social/Behavioral Science or Education, or closely related field and two (2) years working on youth-related programs;  or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Good knowledge of program implementation; knowledge of teaching techniques

  • Skill in communicating effectively with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; skill in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously; skill in organizing, compiling and recording information accurately; skill in utilizing word processing, database or spreadsheet software packages

  • Ability to supervise youth and/or volunteers; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with youth, volunteers, co-workers, other County employees, outside agencies and organizations

  • Must have a valid driver's license and motor vehicle liability insurance; personal injury protection insurance and a personal vehicle

  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance

  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
