Job Title: Undergraduate Makerspace Assistant
Department: Webb School of Engineering
Supervisor: Matt Eaton – Makerspace Director
Starting Rate of Pay: $10.00 per hour
Length of Time: Eligible for rehire on a semester basis.
Department Description:
The Webb School of Engineering is an academic department that supports mechanical engineering, mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, general engineering, computer sciences, and mathematical science programs. As a part of the department’s curriculum, the program includes a series of hands-on fabrication spaces we call “makerspaces”. The primary makerspace is located in the College Village area of campus, and consists of 7000 square feet of fabrication space. Additionally, within Couch Hall, there is a smaller makerspace primarily designed for the use of engineering students.
Job Description:
We are searching for a candidate that will serve as a makerspace assistant during the evening hours at the Couch Hall Makerspace to support after hours work. This may include, but is not limited to assisting and supervising students with 3D printing and laser cutting, maintaining a clean and safe makerspace environment
Job Location/ Hours Required:
The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the Couch Hall Makerspace. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 6 to 9 hours per week. Ideally either (6 PM – 9 PM) (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) or (Tuesday, Thursday).
Responsibilities:
- Supervising students with 3D printing, laser cutting, or other hands on tools and equipment.
- Maintaining a clean and safe makerspace environment.
Required Qualifications:
- A fulltime HPU student of any major
