Financial Crime Analyst (Permanent & Fixed Term Opportunities)
Why you'll love this role:
- Help protect customers and communities from scams, fraud and financial crime
- Fixed Term and multiple permanent opportunities available in Auckland or Christchurch
- Learn from experienced Financial Crime specialists and build a highly sought-after career
Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Every day, millions of financial transactions occur across New Zealand. Behind the scenes, our Financial Crime team works to help keep customers, communities and our bank safe from fraud, scams, money laundering and other financial crime risks.
We're looking for curious minds, natural problem-solvers and people who enjoy connecting the dots.
We're growing our Financial Crime team and have three permanent opportunities and one fixed-term opportunity through to May 2027 available in Auckland and Christchurch. Working on our twilight shift (4:00pm-12:00am), you'll play a key role in identifying unusual transaction activity, investigating alerts and helping keep our customers, communities and bank safe from financial crime.
As a Financial Crime Analyst, you'll investigate alerts, identify unusual activity, engage with customers and colleagues, and help protect people from financial harm. No two days are the same. One day you could be analysing transaction patterns, the next you could be speaking with customers, collaborating with stakeholders or uncovering emerging trends that help strengthen our controls.
This is a role where your attention to detail, judgement and curiosity can have a real impact.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and investigating financial crime alerts
- Identifying suspicious or unusual activity and taking appropriate action
- Working closely with internal stakeholders, customers and business teams
- Providing education and guidance to customers where appropriate
- Identifying emerging trends and sharing insights with specialist teams
- Supporting compliance with AML/CFT obligations and financial crime regulations
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
We're interested in people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. If you enjoy analysing information, asking questions and helping solve complex problems, we'd love to hear from you.
You may bring:
- Strong analytical and investigative thinking with an eye for detail
- The ability to assess information, identify patterns and make sound decisions
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with a wide range of people
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A calm, resilient approach when working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in banking, fraud, AML/CFT, investigations, compliance, customer service or another related field would be advantageous
- A collaborative mindset and passion for helping protect customers and communities
