Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Urology

LCMC Health Physician Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP First Assist) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our established Urology practice in Marrero, Louisiana. This provider will work collaboratively with physicians, clinical staff, and support teams to deliver high-quality urologic care across the continuum of care, including outpatient clinic, inpatient hospital rounding, and surgical first assist responsibilities in the operating room.

Position Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation and management of urology patients
- Conduct inpatient hospital rounding, including assessments, treatment planning, and follow-up care
- Serve as First Assist in the operating room for urologic surgical procedures
- Perform pre-operative and post-operative evaluations and patient education
- Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and develop treatment plans
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing results
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic urologic conditions under established protocols and collaborative agreements
- Respond promptly to patient calls, messages, and clinical concerns
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Coordinate patient care and collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and specialists
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical team meetings
- Promote patient safety and adherence to infection prevention standards
- Demonstrate professional leadership and commitment to LCMC Health's mission and values
Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner Candidates
- Master's or Doctoral Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
- Current national certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current RN First Assist (RNFA) certification or eligibility required
- Experience serving as a First Assist in the operating room strongly preferred
Physician Assistant Candidates
- Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Louisiana Physician Assistant license or eligibility for licensure
- National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification required
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous surgical first assist experience strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Urology experience preferred
- Surgical experience and comfort assisting in the operating room
- Experience with inpatient rounding and management of hospitalized patients
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care
