Description

The Opportunity

The Department of Architecture seeks a Finance and Operations Coordinator to join its administrative team. In this role, you will help advance departmental priorities by providing responsive, accurate support across three essential areas: financial transactions and travel, event coordination, and day-to-day office operations. You will work closely with faculty, students, staff, visitors, and colleagues across the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning (AAP).

You will serve as a key resource for purchasing and other financial transactions, helping faculty and staff navigate relevant policies and procedures. Your work will include processing transactions, assisting with account reporting and reconciliations, researching discrepancies, coordinating procurement, and supporting the semesterly course-budget process. You will also help faculty and students plan course-related travel and field trips, arrange travel for department visitors, and maintain accurate records of related expenses.

Beyond financial and travel support, you will plan and coordinate departmental events, from space and service requests to guest and vendor communication, while monitoring event expenses. You will help keep the office running smoothly by responding to inquiries, maintaining supplies and records, coordinating routine administrative needs, and connecting people with the right resources. Your welcoming, service-minded approach will shape the experience of those who interact with the department.

This position offers opportunities to exercise sound judgment, work with considerable autonomy, learn new systems, and improve the way work gets done. You will collaborate with colleagues throughout the department and AAP, provide backup support when needed, and contribute ideas that make operations more effective and inclusive. As a member of the Cornell community, you will help foster a culture of belonging and a healthy work environment through respectful communication, collaboration, and care for others.
