To provide a high – level of care to critically ill patients while transporting them to healthcare facilities. Critical Care Nurses have an expanded scope of practice allowing them to administer more medications than normal RN’s.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Mobile Critical Care Nurse certification through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services.
2. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
3. ACLS Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, ITLS International Trauma Life Support or PHTLS Prehospital Trauma Life Support.
4. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support OR PEPP Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals.
5. Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in an ER or ICU setting.

1. Responsible for providing emergency care for patients as they are transported from one facility to another.
2. Ensures the patient is stable throughout transport by assessing, monitoring, and intervening using a variety of procedures and interventions.
3. Monitors balloon pumps.
4. Performs NG and OG insertions.
5. Monitors chest tubes.
6. Monitors transvenous pacemaker and adjusts rate and milliamps if needed.
7. Develops knowledge of Collaborative Practice Model (CPM) and application of Method of Practice.
8. Utilizes the nursing process to prescribe, delegate, and evaluate the nursing care rendered.
9. Administers medications and has knowledge of actions, route of administration, dosage, and side effects.
10. Demonstrates ability to meet standards of Practice:
· Assesses and promotes optimal neurological, sensory, cognitive and perceptual functioning.
· Assesses and promotes optimal respiratory oxygen cardiovascular and circulatory function.
· Cares for patients with diabetes.
· Assesses and promotes optimal gastrointestinal / nutrition function.
· Assesses and provides fluids electrolytes and blood product.
· Assesses and promotes optimal musculoskeletal activity rest and orthopedic function.
· Assesses and maintains optimal skin integrity, wound and hygiene including preventative measures.
· Assesses and supports genitourinary and elimination function
· Assesses and provides optimal support for psychosocial / end of life / spiritual / cultural needs.
· Assesses and provides for optimal pain management based on patients self-report of pain or APP (assume pain present).

1. Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of cardiac monitoring of 4 lead ecg and obtaining/ interpreting 12 lead ecg’s
2. Knowledge of Tracheal intubation’s.
3. Knowledge of Ventilator setting and monitoring
4. Accessing PICC Lines for medication administration.
5. Capabilities of performing RSI.
6. Setting IV pumps for multiple medication administration’s.
