Senior Manager, Knowledge Semantics & Engineering

About the Role

As organisations increasingly adopt AI-powered assistants and copilots, the quality of those experiences depends on the quality of the knowledge behind them.

As Senior Manager, Knowledge Semantics & Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and operating the knowledge architecture and retrieval capabilities that underpin BOQ's emerging AI ecosystem. From taxonomy, ontology and knowledge graph design through to search, retrieval and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), you will help ensure the right knowledge is available to the right people, at the right time, with clear provenance and trust.

This is an opportunity to work on one of the most strategically important technology and AI initiatives within the Group. You will help evolve BOQ's enterprise knowledge capability, improving how knowledge is structured, connected and consumed while driving continuous improvements in retrieval quality, relevance, explainability and user experience.

Working closely with Knowledge Experience, Data, Architecture, Security, Privacy and Risk teams, you will help ensure knowledge and AI grounding solutions are scalable, governed and built to enterprise standards.  

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with people leadership, giving you the ability to shape the future direction of knowledge engineering and AI-enabled knowledge experiences across BOQ.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong and curious leader who enjoys solving complex information and retrieval challenges and understands the role trusted knowledge plays in successful AI outcomes.

You will bring experience in knowledge architecture, semantic technologies, search, retrieval engineering, knowledge graphs, information architecture or related disciplines, along with a strong appreciation of how these capabilities create value in real-world enterprise environments.

You will be comfortable interacting wiht technical teams while remaining close to solution design, engineering decisions and delivery outcomes. You understand how to balance innovation with pragmatism and can work effectively across business, technology, risk and governance stakeholders to deliver solutions that are scalable, secure and trusted.

Most importantly, you will bring strong technical judgement, a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for building high-quality solutions. You will be comfortable challenging assumptions, using evidence to guide decisions and creating an environment where technical excellence and collaboration can thrive.
