About the Role
Business Development Manager / Specialist – Renewable Energy
Location: Metro Manila
Employment Type: Full-time
We are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager or Business Development Specialist to support the growth and development of renewable energy projects, with a strong focus on solar power. This opportunity is open to candidates at either specialist or managerial level, depending on experience. The ideal candidate should have an engineering background combined with commercial or business development experience, allowing them to understand both the technical and commercial aspects of renewable energy projects. The successful candidate will be involved in identifying and evaluating new project opportunities, developing client and partner relationships, preparing commercial proposals, and supporting opportunities from initial engagement through project development and commercial negotiations.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for solar and renewable energy projects, including utility-scale, and other applicable projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, property and landowners, developers, investors, utilities, government stakeholders, and strategic partners.
- Support project origination through lead generation, market mapping, client engagement, presentations, proposals, and commercial discussions.
- Conduct initial assessments of potential projects from technical, commercial, regulatory, and financial perspectives.
- Understand client energy requirements and work with engineering and technical teams to develop appropriate project solutions.
- Develop and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective clients and renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate closely with engineering, project development, finance, legal, and project execution teams to progress opportunities.
- Prepare and present project concepts, commercial proposals, business cases, and client presentations.
- Participate in negotiations involving commercial terms, project structures, partnerships, and contracts.
- Monitor developments within the renewable energy sector, including regulations, market trends, competitors, incentives, and emerging technologies.
- Represent the company during client meetings, site discussions, industry events, conferences, and other business development activities.
- Contribute toward agreed project origination, business development, and revenue targets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Energy Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- At least 3–7+ years of relevant experience, depending on level, in business development, project development, technical sales, solutions engineering, commercial management, or similar roles.
- Experience within renewable energy, solar, power, utilities, EPC, energy services, electrical engineering, or related industries is highly preferred.
- Exposure to solar project development, EPC, C&I projects, rooftop solar, utility-scale projects, power solutions, or energy infrastructure would be an advantage.
- Strong technical understanding with the ability to translate engineering concepts into commercially viable solutions for clients.
- Able to evaluate project opportunities considering technical feasibility, commercial viability, and basic project economics.
- Strong relationship-building, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfortable working across both technical and commercial functions.
- Self-driven and commercially minded, with the ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Willing to travel for client meetings, site visits, and project development activities as required.
