Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve production equipment, facility systems, and manufacturing processes. This position supports plant operations through preventive maintenance and equipment repair.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Utilizes equipment manuals, schematics, technical drawings, work instructions, and verbal direction to perform maintenance activities.
• Assembles and installs mechanical and electrical equipment and systems such as production machinery/tools, storage racks and tanks, facility equipment, etc.
• Repairs, rebuilds, wires, troubleshoots and maintains machines and equipment, using equipment available in the Maintenance Department.
• Diagnoses and repairs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment using established troubleshooting techniques and available resources.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems.
• Performs general plant maintenance jobs on plumbing, lighting, machine wiring etc.
• Responsible for maintenance shop including tools and supply inventories.
• Initiates/prepares purchase orders for inventory/non-stock items for approval.
• Corrects safety inspector's recommendations to conform to OSHA requirements.
• Works with supervisors and employees to detect and report any improper operation, faulty equipment or unusual conditions that may affect safety or manufacturing.
• Initiates and reviews bids for necessary contractual work.  Oversees vendors to assure work is completed in a timely manner and is correct.
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision.
• Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Participates in on-the-job training and continuous learning opportunities to expand technical knowledge and maintenance skills.
• Apply the ITW Principles 80/20 and USa to eliminate complexity and improve profitability of the company.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Technical certificate, vocational training, or equivalent maintenance experience preferred.

Experience/Skills: 

• Three to five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Safety training and experience ideal.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral format with MS Office and presentation software expertise.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will constantly (67% - 100%) be required to twist/turn, stand, walk, and grasp, and frequently (34% - 66%) be required to bend/squat, crawl, handle and manipulate small items. They will occasionally (1% - 33%) be required to climb, reach above shoulder, reach outward, sit, and type.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring object into sharp focus. 
• Manual dexterity; arm-hand steadiness; ability to quickly make precise adjustments in moving the controls of a machine; finger dexterity; multi-limb coordination; flexibility; quick reaction time.

• Office Conditions (10%) 

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work Aids that may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

• Hand tools, power tools, lifting devices.  Proper use of required PPE. 

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Forklift license required.

$24-$26
