The Government & Strategic Bids Specialist will support and develop Radiac Abrasives’ government and strategic business opportunities, with a primary focus on GSA (General Services Administration) programs, government procurement, defense contractor opportunities, bids, quotations, and contracts.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in launching and developing a growing government and defense contractor business program for Radiac. The successful candidate will help establish processes, develop customer relationships, identify new opportunities, and create a repeatable approach for pursuing government and defense-related business, and other large requests for proposals.
The position will work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Production, Finance, Marketing, and other internal functions to develop accurate and competitive responses to customer requirements while providing knowledgeable customer and sales support.

Essential Functions
Government, GSA & Defense Contractor Business
- Identify and support GSA and government business activities, including contract information, pricing, product information, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Develop relationships with purchasing, procurement, and supply-chain contacts within defense contractor organizations.
- Monitor customer requirements and purchasing activity to identify new opportunities for Radiac.
- Review RFQs, RFPs, solicitations, specifications, and other bid documents to understand customer requirements.
- Coordinate and track bid and proposal responses with Sales, Product Management, Production, Finance, and other internal resources.
- Prepare and/or coordinate pricing, product selection, lead times, commercial terms, and required documentation.
- Maintain bid calendars and contract information and ensure requirements and deadlines are met including renewals, modifications and updates as required
- Coordinate internal resources and customer requirements associated with significant opportunities.
- Communicate directly with customers, government procurement personnel, defense contractors, and sales representatives.
- Assist with product selection, availability, pricing, application questions, and other customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate CRM information for government, defense contractor, GSA, bid, and strategic opportunities.
- Analyze bid and quotation activity to identify trends and opportunities for improving revenue and market share.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure customer and contract requirements are properly communicated and fulfilled.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in government sales, government procurement, contract administration, proposal/bid management, defense contracting, inside sales, customer service, or a related field.
- Experience working with defense contractors or within the defense manufacturing supply chain is strongly preferred.
- Experience with GSA programs, government procurement, RFQs, RFPs, solicitations, bids, proposals, and/or contracts preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- CRM experience required; SAP experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Government Contracting, or related field preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Industrial, manufacturing, technical product, or engineered-product experience preferred.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, email, video conference, and other electronic communication methods.
