Senior ASP.NET / C# Developer
Location: Sparks, MD / Annapolis Junction, MD
Employment Type: Full-time

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking an experienced Senior ASP.NET / C# Developer to develop, enhance, and support business applications using Microsoft technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web applications using ASP.NET, C#, and SQL Server.
- Support and modernize existing ASP.NET Web Forms and MVC applications.
- Develop application features, APIs, integrations, reports, and internal tools.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and data-access code.
- Troubleshoot application, database, and production issues.
- Collaborate with business users and technical teams to define and implement solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and technical documentation.
- Follow secure coding and software-development best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Seven or more years of professional experience developing applications with C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
- Experience with ASP.NET Web Forms, MVC, NET Core, and Core API.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Experience with WPF is a plus.
- Strong SQL Server and database-development skills.
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
- Experience with Git or another source-control system.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation, with the ability to review AI-generated output for accuracy, security, and maintainability.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DevOps, including IIS, SSL, Windows Server, and application deployment.
- Experience with Telerik, Syncfusion, Microsoft Graph, or third-party system integrations.
- Experience modernizing legacy business applications.
