Position summary
The Intern supports DMA's OTDS team by assisting with indirect tax operations, data preparation, process documentation, and administrative project activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to outsourced tax operations and business processes while developing foundational skills in indirect tax, technology, and client service. The Intern works under the guidance of experienced team members and contributes to the timely and accurate delivery of services.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Assist with data gathering, organization, and validation for indirect tax processes and reporting activities
- Support the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and other routine operational tasks
- Assist with documenting client processes, procedures, and workflow requirements
- Help maintain organized files, records, and audit-ready documentation
- Participate in process improvement initiatives by providing feedback and supporting project-related activities
- Conduct basic research and data analysis as assigned
- Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and service commitments
- Attend training sessions and actively develop knowledge of indirect tax operations, outsourcing services, and DMA methodologies
- Perform administrative and ad hoc assignments as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Technical Writing, Communications, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Previous internship, academic project work, or coursework related to business operations, accounting, tax, analytics, or technology preferred
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies quickly
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Work environment & physical requirements
- Work Schedule: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
- Travel: Less than 10%
- Physical Activity:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
- Ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and sounds
- Frequent repetitive motions with hands
