ASSISTANT FACILITY ENGINEER
Department: Facilities Maintenance
Reports to: Assistant Facility Director
Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $22.50 based on experience.
Job Summary:
An Assistant Facility Engineer at Cherokee Town & Country Club is responsible for supporting the Facility Engineering team in maintaining the Club’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and infrastructure to the highest standards expected of a premier private club. This position assists with preventive maintenance, repairs, tool handling, cleaning, and daily operational tasks throughout the property. The Assistant Facility Engineer performs both indoor and outdoor work and provides shift coverage as needed to ensure uninterrupted facility operations and exceptional member experiences.

Essential Functions of the Job:
• Assist Facility Engineers with maintenance and repair tasks involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
• Support preventive maintenance programs for Club facilities, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain, organize, clean, and inventory tools, equipment, and maintenance work areas.
• Perform routine inspections of facilities and report deficiencies, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
• Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs of kitchen equipment, clubhouse equipment, and other operational systems.
• Complete assigned work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties in maintenance areas, mechanical rooms, workshops, and utility spaces.
• Assist with outdoor ground-related tasks including pressure washing, debris removal, minor landscaping support, and facility appearance projects.
• Assist with event setup and breakdown activities requiring maintenance support.
• Follow all safety procedures and Club policies regarding equipment operation, chemical handling, and workplace safety.
• Provide coverage for varying shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as required by operational needs.
• Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while interacting with members, guests, and fellow associates.
Skills and Aptitude Required:
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance practices and repair techniques.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to identify maintenance issues and communicate findings effectively.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without injury.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, weekends, evenings, and holidays as operational needs require.
Education and Experience Required:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of maintenance, facilities, construction, landscaping, hospitality, or related experience preferred.
• Previous experience in a private club, golf club, resort, hotel, or hospitality environment is preferred.
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or mechanical systems is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
• Willingness to learn advanced maintenance and engineering skills through on-the-job training.
