Job Description Summary

For over forty years, HarbourVest has been home to a committed team of professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to deliver impactful solutions to our clients and investing partners. As our global firm grows, we continue to add individuals who seek a collaborative, open-door culture that values diversity and innovative thinking.

In our collegial environment that’s marked by low turnover and high energy, you’ll be inspired to grow and thrive. Here, you will be encouraged to build on your strengths and acquire new skills and experiences.

We are committed to fostering an environment of inclusion that promotes mutual respect among all employees. Understanding and valuing these differences optimizes the potential of both the individual and the firm.

HarbourVest is an equal opportunity employer.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

The Portfolio Analytics team is seeking a Senior Associate to help lead and evolve our third-party vendor partnerships, with a primary focus on Acuity Analytics. This role will partner closely with internal teams, including QIS and Portfolio Analytics, to strengthen delivery, improve processes, and support the continued growth of our data management and due diligence capabilities.

This role gives you the chance to build a new and evolving operating model. You will influence how work is scaled globally and drive meaningful improvements across teams.

The ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • Proficiency in reviewing financial documents including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and investment schedules, with preference for experience in private equity or alternative investment contexts.
  • Background in private markets, portfolio analytics, or due diligence processes
  • Knowledge of critical performance indicators, data governance concepts, and data quality control frameworks
  • Experience partnering with quantitative or data-driven teams in fluid or developing settings
  • Experience assisting operational improvement or transformation initiatives
  • Experience working with platforms like SharePoint, eFront, S&P Capital IQ, Pitchbook, or comparable systems
  • Experience with data governance or frameworks aiding quality oversight
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (i.e. Power Automate)

What you will do:

Lead Vendor Oversight and Governance

  • Facilitate regular governance meetings with third-party, driving discussions, and tracking outcomes
  • Review and analyze engagement data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for third-party queries, ensuring timely and accurate resolution
  • Proactively identify and raise issues, while working collaboratively toward resolution

Drive Improvement In Execution and Scale

  • Operate effectively within unstructured processes, bringing clarity and organization to evolving workflows
  • Build and maintain clear documentation to support consistency and knowledge sharing
  • Identify gaps in current processes and recommend practical, data-driven improvements
  • Partner with technology and data teams to enhance workflows, automation, and system integration

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Build cross-functional expertise across key workflows (cash flows, operating metrics, company performance data, and internal/external requests) to support team flexibility and operational resiliency
  • Step in to support critical processes as needed, ensuring continuity during periods of transition, volume spikes, or resource constraints
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to support ongoing operational improvements
  • Build strong working relationships across global teams to promote transparency and alignment

Strengthen Risk and Data Practices

  • Contribute to a structured approach for managing vendor-related risks and controls
  • Support data quality efforts through validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution processes
  • Perform targeted quality reviews, including random sampling of vendor output, to confirm adherence to defined processes and standards

What you bring:

  • Background in handling unstructured data and evolving processes, with the ability to build structure and clarity
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with confidence addressing senior team members
  • Experience collaborating with third-party vendors or global teams is a plus
  • Demonstrate curiosity and ownership in improving processes and workflows
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and work jointly with different teams
  • Attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate work
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • MBA or other advanced credentials are a plus but not required.

Experience

  • 5-8 years experience within the financial services sector, operational functions, data management, or a related field
