This is a newly created part-time position (0.5 FTE) based at our Dockyard in Henderson, WA responsible for providing health, safety, environment, quality and security (HSEQS) support to employees, contractors and vessels.

How You’ll Make a Difference
Reporting to the Head of Marine Standards your key responsibilities will include:
- Support daily dockyard operations, advising management, employees and contractors on HSEQS issues to ensure a safe working environment
- Issue permits required to undertake planned docking work, ensuring the Dockyard team are aware of the applicable safety permits active during the day
- Assist local dockyard management teams in investigating low severity incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented
- Ensure all accidents, incidents, and corrective action reports are accurately classified, promptly addressed, and effectively closed out by responsible personnel within established timeframes
- Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to employees and contractors on the use of the safety management system, fostering a culture of continuous learning and safety awareness
- Participate in and contribute to quality audits (SOVIQ, OVID, MLC, SMC, DOC), ensuring that all health and safety matters meet or exceed compliance standards
What You’ll Bring
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and regulations
- The ability to influence positive HSEQS outcomes with contractors and employees by providing “hands on” support
- Ability to investigate accidents and incidents and make recommendations for preventative action
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes, drive change and create a strong health and safety culture
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety Management will be highly regarded
- Maritime industry experience will also be highly regarded
