About the Role
The Content Manager is responsible for leading the Core Content team to ensure the consistent quality, integrity, and currency of the looseleaf, newsletter and reference content portfolio.
The Content Manager will ensure the existing portfolio is maintained at the highest quality and in line with established editorial standards, metrics and benchmarks. The role is expected to serve as an escalation point for author management, and to take ownership of portfolio costs, maintaining targeted budgets and reporting on performance for budgets and forecasting.
The Content Manager will define team priorities and provide the team with guidance and training whilst supporting best practice processes to maximise efficiencies and process improvement. This role is also expected to work closely with operational leaders and teams supporting Core Content.
This role is expected to support Core Content in developing, embedding and adopting Generative AI (GenAI) tools responsibly into team workflows, in order to work smarter, drive efficiencies and maintain high-quality, trusted legal content.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage team to promote common vision, values and objectives; develop inclusive, supportive culture that strives for excellence and is aligned with commercial objectives
- Leading the team through change, to ensure appropriate support is provided, ongoing team engagement and success adaptation/role evolution
- Performance management and employee development, including regular coaching and mentoring and delivering formal performance evaluations; recruitment and training new staff
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships to drive collaboration, share knowledge and leverage best practices, including sharing GenAI experiments, prompts, learnings, and workflow redesign opportunities within the team, and wider business where appropriate
- Mentor others in leadership and develop management capabilities within the department
- Manage employees, balance workload across team/s and allocate portfolio
- Ensure team members are equipped to build a comprehensive understanding and awareness of developments, legislative reforms, procedures, case law and trends across portfolios to keep products current and relevant
- Delivering content improvements to justify annual price increases across portfolio
- Implementation of best practice editorial processes and regular coordination with REPH/Straive to ensure efficient content updating processes and outcomes
- Periodic review of those content creation processes to identify opportunities to leverage technology and improve efficiency
- Drive team adoption of all mandatory global and compliance processes in line with corporate objectives
- Collaborate with Ed Ops/REPH/Straive leadership to design and implement efficient processes and promote strong working relationships with counterparts at REPH/Straive
- Extensive collaboration with Ed Ops/Straive/REPH on editorial processes and metrics to ensure content quality and timeliness to market
- Responsible for ensuring the Core Content team share product information with internal stakeholders regularly and as requested to inform and provide expertise in relation to product and/or portfolio specific features, key functions and overall value to customers
- Utilising content expertise and knowledge to support the construction of new content development business cases and segment analysis
- Responsible for the delivery of content enhancements across the portfolio, and support of content development initiatives across the wider team.
- Overall accountability for team operating within costs budget set across portfolio of titles to ensure operation within budgeted costs per title
- Responsible for reporting and forecasting costs for annual budgets, quarterly reforecasts and monthly analysis
- Ability to identify cost saving measures within products in line with local, regional and global targets
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent (legal preferred)
- Sound level of computer literacy
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint
- Good working knowledge of technologies used in the publishing process
- Good working knowledge of publishing workflow from idea conception through to receipt by customer
- Publishing experience (usually upwards of 3 years and across multiple teams)
- Legal practice experience desirable
- Strong relationship-building and performance management skills
