Job Purpose

To enhance AFFIN corporate reputation in all media and public relations efforts, ensuring consistent, transparent, and impactful communication across all channels.  The role focuses on building meaningful media relationships, crafting strategic narratives, and navigating complex communication landscapes to protect and promote the Bank’s brand and mission.

Key Responsibilities

Media Relations 

• Forge a strong, long-term relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.

• Draft a sophisticated, engaging press release that amplify Bank’s achievements and initiatives.  
  • Prepare and distribute high-quality media kits, holding statements, fact sheets, and speeches for AFFIN’s Group CEO’s and Top Management. 

• Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries, proactively pitching stories to secure meaningful media coverage. 

• Monitor and analyses media coverage, identifying trends and insights related to the Bank, competitors, and industry developments. 

• Manage all media engagements, ensuring timely delivery of impactful content for print and broadcast platforms
• Stay ahead of industry trends and market updates, leveraging insights to shape communication strategies and identify opportunities for media engagement

• Maintain a comprehensive, up-to-date media contact list and establish regular touchpoints with media professional through visit and networking

• Organise media conferences a, ensuring seamless coordination and timely responses to media and queries.

• Foster strong relationships with media professionals through planned activities and events. 

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Media Policy to provide clear guidelines for managing media interactions, ensuring consistent messaging, and addressing potential issues effectively. This policy will serve as a framework for handling media inquiries, disseminating information, and mitigating risks related to public communication. 

Public Relation Strategy

• Design and implement PR campaign that aligns with the Bank corporate objectives and values
• Plan the Bank’ participation in industry forums, public events and sponsorship opportunities

• Manage online publication or printing projects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget. 

Publications 

• Oversee the execution of in-house publications, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery within stipulated deadlines.

Public Relations 

• Plan, coordinate, and execute itineraries and programs related to the company’s publicity activities. 

• Serve as emcee for corporate events as and when required. 

        Crisis Communications 

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive Crisis Communication Plan and Response Templates to manage potential crises effectively. 

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Mass communication, Journalism, or related field.

- Minimum 5 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications preferably within the banking or financial service industry.

- Proven Track record of developing and executing successful media PR campaign and managing media relationships

- Experience in crafting speeches, press release and communication materials for senior executive

- Strong understanding of the media landscape, including print, digital and broadcast platforms

- Hands-on experience with crisis communication planning and execution

-Excellent writing, editing and public speaking skills

- Confident and articulate communicator with experience as an emcee
