Creative Companion / Learning Facilitator for young teen with Autism (Centurion/Irene)
Half-day, weekdays only | R15,000 – R18,000+ per month + benefits
Our client, a warm and values-driven family based in Irene, is looking for a calm, mature and creative individual to spend weekday mornings with their 13-year-old daughter, who is on the autism spectrum.
She is a gentle, well-behaved young girl who functions at approximately grade 3 level. She is not in a formal school system and flourishes with personalised attention, hands-on creativity, and a calm, predictable routine. This role is not focused on formal teaching — it’s about connection, stimulation, and a nurturing daily rhythm.
More on the role:
- Weekday hours from 08:00 to 13:00
- Engaging her in age-appropriate, creative and enriching activities (e.g., drawing, making cards, reading and crafts)
- Accompanying her to the family’s peaceful smallholding in Centurion during the day (transport provided or petrol reimbursed)
- Creating gentle structure, building trust, and supporting her learning informally
- Occasional coordination with her occupational therapist
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient and consistent
- Reliable, responsible, and able to commit long-term
- Naturally creative and full of initiative
- Ideally a person that is ‘more settled in life’ — perhaps someone whose own children are older or independent
- Background in education, special needs, or childcare would be beneficial but is not essential
- Communication skills in both English and Afrikaans
- Possess a valid driver’s license
Remuneration:
In the range of R15,000 – R18,000+ per month, depending on experience and fit. Additional benefits include use of a vehicle during work hours (or petrol reimbursement), and additional time off during some school holidays.
