Description
The Senior Logistics Specialist will be part of the company’s Logistics team, led by the Director of Operations. They will work with and report directly to the Logistics Lead. This position will be essential to the company’s logistics, quality control and financial processes and systems. As part of this role, the employee will undertake the duties and responsibilities detailed below.
Key Responsibilities
· Process sales orders.
· Manage transport for shipments, including raising and collating all dispatch paperwork required for UK and international shipments in line with customs and client requirements. Track shipments, investigate delivery issues as required, and liaise with the Logistics Lead and clients to resolve any issues.
· Maintain department databases.
· Maintain company records and documents.
· Support the Logistics Lead and/or the QHSE Department in client audits as needed.
· Build good working relationships and confidence with employees, visitors, suppliers, contractors and clients.
· Raise purchase orders in line with purchase requisitions.
· Problem-solve and resolve supplier issues in a timely manner.
· Communicate effectively with employees, auditors, suppliers and clients to ensure logistics requirements and tasks are understood, undertaken and completed in a timely manner.
· Undertake document control, maintenance, administration and logistics tasks as directed by the Logistics Lead.
· Undertake other related tasks as required or directed by the Logistics Lead.
· Provide site support to the Global Product Stewardship Manager, including generating and/or maintaining MSDS for materials manufactured at Ascensus Cambridge.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Basic qualifications:
· A good understanding of English, both spoken and written.
· Previous experience working in a logistics department or environment.
· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
· Working knowledge of translation software to ensure documentation such as SDS can be translated into languages other than English as required.
Prefer:
· Previous experience working within the logistics department of a chemical manufacturer or supplier company.
