We’re looking to connect with experienced Second Engineers who are interested in upcoming opportunities with our operations in Papua New Guinea. Based in Port Moresby, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a hands-on operational environment where your seamanship, judgement and leadership make a difference every day.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Second Engineer, you’ll ensure operational readiness of engines, propulsion systems, and associated equipment to support safe and effective towage operations. Reporting to the Master onboard, your responsibilities will include:
- Operate and monitor vessel engines, generators, and associated systems during towage operations
- Perform planned and corrective maintenance on engines, deck machinery, and associated equipment
- Execute maintenance in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System and budget requirements
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs, including emergency maintenance
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISM requirements, and port operating procedures
- Participate in and support safety training, drills, and competency development
- Monitor and report on safety performance, hazards, and incidents
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safe work practices
What You’ll Bring
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- Valid Engineer Class 3 Certificate of Competency from an approved regional maritime training institution (such as the PNG Maritime College)
- SOLAS Certification: Up-to-date Safety of Life at Sea training certificates certified by the NMSA
- A current NMSA Medical Fitness Certificate applicable to the Certificate of Competency
- Relevant experience in the maritime industry (harbour towage experience would be an advantage)
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding capability
- PNG Passport with validity of more than six months
