- Overview*
Scavuzzo's is seeking an experienced, solutions-driven Logistics Specialist to take ownership of our daily freight execution and route optimization. In this role, you will oversee over-the-road freight dispatch, maximize capacity through strategic backhaul sourcing, supervise key operational workflows, and cultivate strong partner relationships.
What You'll Do
- Freight Execution & Dispatch: Schedule and dispatch over-the-road movements, ensuring end-to-end shipment visibility and route efficiency.
- Capacity Optimization: Actively source and coordinate front and backhaul load opportunities to maximize fleet utility and profit margins.
- Tracking & Operations Supervision: Monitor live delivery progress and electronic log systems to keep shipments on schedule, providing supervisory guidance to keep operations moving smoothly.
- Relationship Management: Cultivate long-term relationships with shippers, motor carriers, and external partners through proactive communication and top-tier service.
- Issue Resolution & Process Improvement: Swiftly troubleshoot transit disruptions, analyze operational bottlenecks, and execute continuous workflow improvements.
What You Bring
- Experience: 3+ years in freight coordination, dispatch, or logistics operations preferred (High School Diploma or equivalent required).
- Regulatory Expertise: Advanced knowledge of DOT Hours of Service (HOS) and OSHA regulations.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), preferably GEOTAB, along with proficiency in MS Office.
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to direct teams, build rapport, and present ideas effectively.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong critical thinking skills with a knack for prioritizing high-stakes deadlines and adjusting to fast-paced business needs.

Requirements
Placement Criteria
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, or 3+ years in the field or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred;
- Extensive knowledge of DOT HOS Regulations and OSHA regulations;
- Knowledge of MS Office applications and electronic log systems;
- Strong communication and negotiation skills;
- Problem solver with the ability to implement process improvement;
- Strong critical thinking skills;
- The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively via email, verbally, and in presentations, tailoring your messaging to the appropriate level of audience
