About the team and the role:
At eBay, we’re more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world buys, sells, and connects. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets, and behind every fast, seamless experience is a foundation of technology built for scale, reliability, and innovation.
The Traffic team is a critical part of that foundation. They build and evolve the systems that help power experiences across eBay’s global platform, ensuring high performance, resilience, and security at scale. This team works on meaningful technical challenges that directly influence customer experience, platform health, and business impact.
As a Full Stack Engineer - Traffic, you will help shape the next generation of applications and services that support eBay’s traffic ecosystem. This is a full-time opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems across the stack — from architecting scalable backend systems to building intuitive front-end experiences. You will work closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering partners to deliver high-quality solutions that improve platform capabilities for teams and customers around the world.
What you will accomplish:
Build and improve scalable backend services and modern front-end applications that support eBay’s global traffic systems and help deliver fast, reliable user experiences.
Influence architecture and technical design decisions that improve scalability, fault tolerance, security, and long-term maintainability across critical platform components.
Deliver end-to-end solutions across the stack, including RESTful APIs, microservices, databases, and responsive user interfaces that support business and engineering goals.
Partner with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate complex requirements into thoughtful, production-ready solutions.
Advance engineering excellence by helping drive coding standards, secure development practices, automation, and CI/CD workflows that improve software quality and team efficiency.
Continue growing your technical depth by exploring modern frameworks, emerging technologies, and new ideas that strengthen eBay’s engineering practices and platform performance.
What you will bring:
Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field plus 2+ years of full stack engineering experience.
Strong backend development experience in Node.js, Java, or similar technologies, including hands-on work with microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and OpenAPI Specification.
Proficiency in React.js or a similar modern front-end framework, with the ability to build intuitive, responsive, and user-focused applications.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, along with a strong understanding of application scalability, performance optimization, and maintainable software design.
Familiarity with cloud and DevOps environments such as AWS, GCP, Azure, or private cloud, as well as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based collaboration workflows.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, plus an understanding of secure coding practices; experience with traffic management UI applications, open-source contributions, or Agile ways of working is a plus.
