Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Analyze client tax data to identify opportunities across specialty tax domains, including State & Local Tax (SALT), R&D Tax Credits, Cost Segregation, and other specialty tax services.
- Evaluate client facts, financial information, and tax documentation to identify potential tax planning, compliance, and cross-sell opportunities.
- Translate tax practitioner expertise into structured business rules, signal logic, and decision frameworks for AI-enabled tax solutions.
- Collaborate with tax subject matter experts (SMEs), product managers, and engineering teams to define, validate, and refine tax signal models.
- Review and interpret data from tax returns, workpapers, trial balances, fixed asset registers, general ledgers, engagement files, CRM systems, and other client documentation.
- Support the design and enhancement of tax data models, ontologies, and AI-driven workflows by providing domain expertise.
- Document tax signal definitions, validation criteria, confidence levels, business rules, and escalation guidelines to ensure consistency and transparency.
- Maintain high standards of governance and quality by distinguishing verified facts from inferred tax opportunities and ensuring appropriate documentation.
- Research emerging tax regulations, industry trends, and specialty tax developments to enhance opportunity identification and analytical capabilities.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt AI tools and analytical technologies to improve tax analysis, operational efficiency, and business insights.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Taxation, Finance, Commerce or related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in tax consulting, tax compliance, or specialty tax services such as SALT, R&D Tax Credits, Cost Segregation, or related areas.
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax concepts, client engagement processes, and specialty tax service offerings.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting tax returns, workpapers, financial statements, trial balances, fixed asset schedules, and other financial records.
- Ability to convert tax knowledge into structured business rules, decision logic, and opportunity identification frameworks.
- Working knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, tax data structures, or AI-enabled business processes, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complex business and tax scenarios.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge discussions between tax professionals, product teams, and data engineers.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, governance, documentation, and maintaining accuracy in tax analysis and recommendations.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn emerging technologies, particularly AI and automation tools, with the ability to leverage them effectively to improve tax processes and insights.
