As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable software solutions that support business objectives. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, efficient code while driving innovation and technical excellence. You will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The team is dedicated to building and enhancing platforms and services that support millions of customers, associates, and business partners. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will contribute primarily through hands-on development of high-quality software, addressing complex technical challenges, and delivering scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. The team values technical leadership, architectural guidance, and engineering best practices. Collaborating closely with managers, engineering leaders, and cross-functional partners, the team focuses on creating resilient, high-performing systems that drive growth while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
 

What you'll do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing software for performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies to enhance software capabilities and innovation.


What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in software engineering with a strong foundation in computer science principles.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and software development frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality software solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering efficient and reliable code.
  • Experience collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and version control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
