Role summary:Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable application experiences, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. The Associate and Agentic Experiences team within People Tech & Services delivers advanced digital solutions supporting compensation and benefits for Walmart’s global associate community. Positioned at the nexus of technology and human impact, the team leads modernization efforts to simplify complex user journeys and unify global systems into a seamless digital platform. By integrating AI, the team enhances engagement with pay and benefits. Focused on scalable development, user-centric design, and impactful outcomes, the team fosters collaboration and innovation across technical and business domains to improve everyday experiences worldwide.
What you'll do:
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Lead system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and alignment with architectural best practices.
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend APIs .
- Build and optimize mobile-first associate experiences using React Native.
- Own end-to-end delivery of complex features, from API to UI components to observability.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, agile systems.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and automation features using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements, track success metrics.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
- Demonstrated skills in debugging, problem solving, and remedial action to maintain high-quality software.
- Effective mentorship and collaboration skills to support team growth and cross-functional communication.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
