Tramec is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer
Position Summary:
- The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, launch, and continuous improvement of products throughout their lifecycle. This position provides technical leadership, mentors junior engineers, and leads cross-functional teams while partnering with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, and sales.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Lead new product development from concept through production launch.
- Provide technical leadership for cross-functional engineering teams.
- Develop innovative product designs using SolidWorks.
- Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, BOMs, routings, Product Masters, and ECNs/ECOs.
- Lead APQP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, and design reviews.
- Evaluate manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, and serviceability.
- Manage projects involving injection molding, stamping, roll forming, welding, machining, and assembly.
- Drive cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
- Support tooling development, supplier qualification, prototype builds, and production launches.
- Lead root cause investigations using 8D, 5 Why, and DMAIC.
- Analyze warranty and field performance data.
- Mentor engineers and technicians.
- Lead customer and supplier technical reviews.
- Support Lean and Kaizen initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with QMS and industry standards.
- Travel 10–20% as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, or related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of product engineering experience.
- Experience leading engineering projects from concept through production.
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PLM, and engineering change management.
- Heavy-duty truck, automotive, or industrial equipment experience preferred.
