About the Opportunity

Duties

The full-time Research Associate will play a key role in the Defense Industrial Base Institute’s ongoing quantitative and qualitative research projects. The successful candidate will support the Institute’s leadership in research management, and will function as a core member of the Research Team.  The role demands a team player, who can participate in diverse research projects that may include: analyzing the social, economic, and physical characteristics of communities to identify priority areas for targeted investment; workforce development analysis; advanced manufacturing research, and capital activation support.

The Defense Industrial Base Institute (DIBI) of Northeastern University is a solutions engine for the defense industrial base. We combine coalition building with rigorous research and capital activation to drive systemic transformation, moving beyond traditional think tank models to catalyze high-impact, lasting change across the defense ecosystem.

Work Hours

• (40 hrs/week) between the hours of 8:30am-5:30pm (Monday-Friday).
• Some travel may be required

Requirements

• Ability to participate in quantitative and qualitative time-sensitive research projects, to include research design, data collection, analysis, synthesis, and reporting
• Experience conducting interdisciplinary research required; experience conducting industrial base research (supply chain resilience, capital activation, workforce development, advanced manufacturing and procurement agility)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong note-taking abilities and proofreading and editing skills
• Experience synthesizing large amounts of information into concise briefings or other written and oral presentations
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize deadlines
• Ability to stay focused and excel with minimal supervision
• High level of professionalism
• Microsoft Office proficiency
• ArcMAP GIS experience preferred, but not required
• U.S. citizenship is required per federal agency
