Mechanical - Head (Mixed Use)Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end Mechanical Engineering function for a large mixed-use development comprising commercial and hotel/hospitality assets. The Mechanical Head will oversee design management, engineering reviews, project execution, quality, cost, safety, stakeholder coordination, and commissioning of all mechanical systems throughout the project lifecycle.Job Description
About the Role:
- Lead the planning, design review, coordination, and execution of all mechanical systems including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, fire protection, water management, and utility services for commercial and hospitality developments.
- Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, technical specifications, value engineering proposals, and consultant deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage mechanical contractors, consultants, vendors, and project teams to ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones, installation activities, testing, and commissioning works.
- Drive project execution by monitoring quality, safety, budget, schedules, and resource utilization while ensuring adherence to project objectives and operational requirements.
- Coordinate closely with Civil, Structural, Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Interior teams to ensure seamless integration of all building services.
- Evaluate and implement energy-efficient, sustainable, and innovative mechanical solutions that enhance building performance and operational efficiency.
- Lead troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Monitor compliance with local authority regulations, statutory approvals, hotel brand standards, fire and life safety requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Develop project standards, SOPs, technical specifications, and preventive maintenance strategies for mechanical systems.
- Prepare and present project performance reports, risk assessments, progress updates, and key engineering metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support procurement teams in technical bid evaluations, vendor selection, contract reviews, and negotiations related to mechanical packages.
- Ensure successful testing, commissioning, handover, and defect liability management of all mechanical services.
About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
- 15-20+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and MEP project delivery within large-scale mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, hotel, high-rise, or premium real estate developments.
- Strong expertise in HVAC systems, plumbing, fire fighting systems, building utilities, district cooling, and energy-efficient building services.
- Proven experience in managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams through the complete project lifecycle.
- Thorough understanding of international and local engineering codes, standards, statutory regulations, and hospitality design requirements.
- Experience in design management, value engineering, procurement support, testing, commissioning, and project handover.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, and team-building capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior leadership, consultants, operators, and clients.
- Working knowledge of sustainability standards, green building requirements, and smart building technologies is preferred.
